Cartlandia is an oasis of food, drink, and bike repair located along the Springwater Corridor bike path. It’s approximately ten miles from downtown Portland — a perfect spin on a Sunday for the family. The site is a former used car lot that has been transformed into a family-friendly bicyclist destination. If flat riding is your thing, you can’t beat this route. You can pedal for miles in either direction without encountering anything close to a hill. If it’s a sunny day, be warned that the Springwater is a multi-use path which means you’ll find runners, walkers, rollerbladers, dogs, etc. This probably isn’t the best time or place to practice your time trialing skills.
Cartlandia Bike Shop
Is your chain squeaking like a monkey? Did you forget to restock your seat pack with spare tubes? Need a spoke replaced? No problem, Cartlandia has your back. The bike wrench on site is run by The Bike Rack. They offer maintenance, accessories, nutritional supplements, free water, free air, free chain lube, and complimentary bike banter.
Lots of Food Choices
There are fifteen food carts and counting. You’ll find a wide array of choices: here’s a list of the menus. If you need a super caffeine boost to get your legs spinning in the morning, Serendipity Espresso opens at 6am. The Deadliest Catch cart is actually a bus — complete with indoor seating. Need a sugar boost to get you back home? Check out Cake on a Hot Tin Roof for dessert.
Cartlandia not only has tasty food and drink to enjoy but covered seating, a fire pit, indoor bathrooms for customers, and a big screen TV (in case the football freak in your family can’t bear to miss the entire game). They also have a kid’s play area with a mini basketball game, and a “barking lot” for dogs.
