Bike Love Documentary Film

On December 1st, 2011, Kara Minnehan gave up her car and began a journey of bike commuting in Portland, Oregon. Bike Love tells her story.

Kara and Bike Love’s Music Coordinator, Kim Walsh, sat down with Inessa for a chat about the film. Listen in:

Bike Love is a documentary film for the bike-curious, about human connection & community, feminism, sustainability, fashion, art & comedy in Portland, Oregon.

The Book

Bike Love Documentary Project will also create a companion photography book, “Girls on Wheels”, which will feature the inside story of the production process and characters in the film, as well as a diverse array of photographs of female cyclists in Portland, Oregon.

The Soundtrack

Bike Love Documentary will compile a soundtrack for the film featuring local artists such as Tyler Stenson, Naomi Hooley, Luz Mendoza, and the Shook Twins. Following the premier of the film will be a show featuring live performances by a few of our artists.

RAWards

This event is going to a lot of fun! Jeremiah Stroup, who has been an active supporter of Bike Love, will be hosting this event. RAWards is all about honoring local Indie artists, including filmmakers, visual artists, makeup artists, photographers, and more! We will be promoting Bike Love at this event, including stage presence where we will be offering incentives, including Widmer gift certificates and more. Details

Bike Love Thanksgiving

Monday, November 19, 2012, 6-8pm
Hopworks Bike Bar

We will be hosting an informal fundraiser and social hang out party at Bike Bar, where our Traveling Art Show is currently installed. Bike Bar will be featuring a Thanksgiving-style sandwich that night!! Crystal Tenty and Steve Kemper, producers of “Girls on Wheels” – the Bike Love companion photography book, will be there to answer questions and drink a beer or two with y’all!!

Kim Walsh, Bike Love’s Music Coordinator will also be at the event to answer questions about about soundtrack! So far we are featuring Naomi Hooley, Tyler Stenson, the Shook Twins, Luz Mendoza (of Y La Bamba), and more! Other members of the cast, including Kara Minnehan, director of Bike Love, will also be there! Come have some Turkey (or the veggie substitute) and some beer with us!
